Determination of direction when boring tunnels by means of image processingThe task: A tunnel boring machine is led to its target by means of a laser beam. The target deviation and other processing data are to be collected, recorded and presented in graphic form on a computer screen. The solution: There is a focussing screen with a small camera in the boring head. The guide laser is portrayed on the focussing screen by a light spot and the boring direction by a dark shadow. The picture of the focussing screen taken by the small camera is boosted by a specially developed miniature video booster for a transmission of up to 300 m and transmitted via a standard cable to the control unit. Here, the signal is recorded with a PC graphics card with integrated frame grabber and shown on one part of the PC screen. An image processing programme continually determines the position of the laser spot and the boring direction. In addition, diverse other process data are taken over from a PLC into the PC. All relevant data is recorded and graphed. User guidance is also via a graphical user interface with menu technique. |
