Alarm server in a fire brigade control system
The task:
On the basis of ISDN connections, a bi-directional communication is to be established between the main computers in the headquarters of Hamburg’s fire brigade and the programmable logic controllers for alarm and tone sequence control at the individual stations.
The solution:
Two mirrored servers were using Windows NT and the programming language C++ were installed. Communication with headquarters is via TCP/IP in LAN assembly and with the individual stations via ISDN with InformX computers which are controlled and supervised by the WAL server. Each server manages 9 ISDN connections; should a server be overloaded or fail, the next server intervenes and takes over. An extensive recording system ensures that all events are documented completely and are therefore traceable at all times.
